The Albatross

We explored south of town this morning to the site of a right royal British cock up, where the poms (actually they sent in the Scots) decide to walk slowly at entrench troops with excellent marksmanship and the best rifle in the world at the time. You can guess the rest.
The battle of Magersfontein has a small unmanned museum on top of the hill where the battle wasn’t (that took place at the base), very dimly lit (I spent the first 5 minutes looking for the light switch) with some excellent dioramas, informative boards which we read by the light of our phone torches, and an informative movie. I really quite enjoyed it. I think Tuna was less impressed, but as it cost us $2.50 each I thought it was great bang for your buck (pun intended).
We then went and had lunch, directly next door to the lovely seafood place where we had lunch yesterday. They do steak, and they do it very, very well. White linen table cloths, attentive waitress, awesome bottle of rich soft buttery Chardy. Entrée mains and booze for less than a burger each and a couple of beers at a pub in Perth. We were/are very full.
We tried to go to a rock art place after lunch but it was very shut. I didn’t mind as I could barely move and was in a food coma. Time to get our stuff sorted for our early morning sprint tomorrow.
